Waste & recycling
Backwell Recycling Centre is open only for essential trips.
Kerrbside collection Advice
Collections are still running as normal. For recycling, please flatten items as much as possible (cardboard, milk bottles and Tetra Pak cartons crushed with lid on, etc.).

If you have a lot of recycling, consider whether or not you can save some for next week’s collection to help ease the load on strained services.

To minimise the spread of COVID-19, it has also been suggested that it is a good idea to wash the handles of your recycling boxes, compost bins and wheelie bins with soapy water before and after taking them out for collection.
Important: If you have been experiencing Coronavirus symptoms and/or are self-isolating, your waste should be double bagged, tied securely, kept separate from other waste, and be put aside for at least 3 days before being put in your usual black waste bin.

Backwell Village Magazine
The Village Magazine has produced monthly editions throughout the year, both printed and online versions. Many of the normally routine articles have stopped which has provided an opportunity for other groups and individuals to contribute. Readers are invited to email in copy to be considered for publication. It is good to be able to read about what is going on in the area, because there is still a lot happening even in Lockdown.
