This page is to have a few ideas that might help you in your household or provide you some ideas with how you could share some things with your neighbours. Everyone has low days so finding a few distractions and doing some of the below could help. In the coming weeks will try to add more ideas and suggestions but feel free to email me some with enough ideas if you’d like me to add them.

This Week — Poppy Posters

In recognition of remembrance day on the 11th of November we thought it would be nice to do pictures of poppies either for your own window or to share with the neighbours somebody else who you think would appreciate it. We really looking forward to seeing them popping up across the village you could do your own unique image or find templates online hear us and we found.

Red Poppies are the common symbol for those lost on behalf of the armed forces, white for peace and purple for animals lost. You may know of more and feel free to go for your style.

Feel free to share on Facebook – Backwell Friends Let’s get Walking. Take a walk. Take a friend. More links to Let’s get Cycling More to follow Cooking and Food We know eating well is important. People living alone don’t always feel like cooking, families who are unwell might struggle make a family meal.

If you think someone you know might benefit from a home cooked meal why not make it and share. How about a fresh soup

If you want to support the foodbank there is a donation point in Backwell – contact Jane Sleigh – telephone number. Or Donate online to their website. Why not bake a cake to share around Art and Creativity More to follow Lend a hand, set up a group for your street – is it WhatsApp or emails, maybe you and your neighbours could have a local group and look out for those less connected..Offer to pick up items for each other. Pass puzzles, books or gardening tips..

There may people less willing to ask, but each of us reaching out to one person might mean loneliness is less and little things resolve (I met an older woman in the street and she hadn’t wanted to ask her male carer to open something related to women’s problems, I was happy and able to help) I’m delighted to be working with Rosie on this page. I am Backwell District Councillor, I am a busy mum, and trying to support community spirit for young and old across the village. If you have ideas or advice please email me on bridget.petty@n-somerset.gov.uk or contact me on messenger on Facebook. I am Bridget C Petty and have a page Bridget for Backwell.
